The talent is definitely there for Ryan Boyce. A native of the Memphis area, Boyce has good size, athleticism, and skill, and showed off his ability over the weekend. With that he is becoming a priority target in the SEC, and could see his recruitment grow to the national level before the end of the spring.
About his improvement, Boyce said, "It was a pretty good year. I feel like I improved from the last year. I had higher expectations, and I feel like I met them."
He continued, "I know I have to improve my on ball defense and be more fundamental when guarding smaller and quicker guards. Also I am trying to improving my ball handling and passing."
So far his recruitment is going well, and one school seems to be showing the most interest in Boyce.
"The school that has been talking to me the most is Florida," noted Boyce. "Coach (Jordan) Mincy has been texting me almost every day. Also I am hearing from Mississippi State, Mississippi, UT-Martin, Tulsa, and LSU."
When it comes to the Gators, Boyce said, "I know that they did a lot better than people expected this year, and that they were a young team. That is the scary part, they could be a lot better next year and be even more successful."
Also the Mississippi schools are beginning to turn up the heat on Boyce.
About the Bulldogs of Mississippi State, Boyce said, "They just basically want me to visit. I have been talking to Coach (Ernie) Zeigler, he is a really nice guy, and it is a program on the rise."
When it comes to the Ole Miss Rebels, he expounded, "I like Ole Miss a lot. It is close to home and they have a great campus. Also I like how Coach (Andy) Kennedy lets his guards play."
Currently Boyce isn't feeling any pressure to make an early decision, but he does know what he will be looking for in a school when the time does come to make a commitment.
"I look for a place with good academics first and foremost, and then also a school that will push me to get better and make me the best player I can be," said Boyce.
