2019 shooting guard P.J. Fuller learns from Hoop Summit experience

2019 guard P.J. Fuller participated in the Hoop Summit scrimmage, playing alongside Steve Blake and against some of the nation's best seniors.

Five-star sophomore guard P.J. Fuller had the opportunity to participate in the pre-Hoop Summit scrimmage, playing against some of the best players in the 2017 class.

That opportunity also allowed him to play alongside former NBA point guard Steve Blake, an experience that Fuller, a 6-foot-3 guard out of Seattle (Wash.) Nathan Hale, learned from.

“It was a really good experience,” Fuller said. “These guys, they are really good and being able to play against them is going to be able to better my game a lot because I’m learning from them an I got to play with Steve Blake.”

“He’s really good and he was kind of picking the whole team’s head, giving us tips to be ready when you don’t have the ball, how to move without the ball, how to come off a ball-screen and stuff like that.”

Fuller said Blake taught him some key tricks in a short timeframe.

“During practice he was just kind of like being a mentor and just guiding us, being in our heads, telling us the right things to do, where to be on the court at certain times, telling us what’s a good shot and what’s a bad shot,” Fuller said.

On the recruiting front, Fuller is starting to garner serious college attention. Right now his offer list includes TennesseeTCUUSCUtah State and Montana. He also held an offer from the last coaching staff at Washington.

“It’s going well,” he said of his recruitment. “I don’t have all the offers I want, which is perfectly fine because I have time so I’m just going to continue to work and praying to God that I get what I want.”

Which school does he want to hear from?

“I really like Kentucky,” Fuller said. “I know if I shoot for the moon I will land on some type of star. Kentucky is way up there. They’re one of the best so if I get Kentucky I will be pretty satisfied.”

Fuller is currently ranked No. 22 overall and No. 3 at the shooting guard position in the 2019 class.
