It didn’t take long into the UnderArmour Association on Friday for a previously unranked player to emerge as a high major prospect.
Team Charlotte’s Aaron Wiggins, a 6-foot-6, 185-pound 2018 small forward from High Point (N.C.) Wesleyan Christian stood out with his size, length, smooth stroke and shot making ability, vision, effort on the glass and motor.
“I like to shoot, play defense, play as hard as I can, make everyone around me better and I’m a good leader on the court,” Wiggins said. “I want to keep being a leader and helping everyone around me get better.”
“Right now probably Maryland, Wake Forest and Virginia,” Wiggins listed, before breaking down what he likes about each school.
Maryland: “They’re a good school. They get up and down the court and shoot the ball.”
Wake Forest: “They like to shoot the ball and get up and down the court. On defense they play hard. Danny Manning is a great coach.”
Virginia: “Defensively they always play hard. They always come out with the same intensity and effort.”
The rising senior says he’s open with his recruitment with spring AAU ball just beginning.
“No one leads right now,” he said. “I’m taking my time and trying to learn as much as I can about each school.”
