Four-star shooting guard Josh Nickelberry had an impressive showing in Fort Worth at the adidas Gauntlet event. Playing with an absolutely loaded Game Elite 2019 squad, Nickelberry put up big numbers, and had a whole hoard of coaches following him from game to game.
"I think everything is coming along well," said Nickelberry of his game. "I am focusing on improving my defense and rebounding, and also I know I have to continue to work on my shot and be more consistent."
On the recruiting trail a host of schools were tracking Nickelberry closely, and more offers keep coming in.
One of Nickelberry's biggest offers during the year came from North Carolina, and it was big for him to get that from the reigning national champions.
"They have been recruiting me since my eighth grade year," said Nickelberry. "Coach Roy (Williams) has seen me play a lot. It was great when they offered me. It is such a great school with a great coach, and they just won the championship, so I am real excited."
Also the Louisville Cardinals have begun to pick things up with Nickelberry, and they could become a major factor in this recruitment.
"It is a great program and Coach (Rick) Pitino is a great coach," noted Nickelberry. "Also they are loaded with talent every year and one of the top teams in the country, so they are a great school."
One of the newest offers from Nickelberry came from Nebraska, and the Corn Huskers are working to make an impression.
"I know some about Nebraska," said Nickelberry. "I didn’t watch them play much, but they have some good programs, and Coach (Kenya) Hunter seems like a great guy who is recruiting me."
Look for offers to keep coming in all spring long for Nickelberry who continues to prove he is one of the most explosive scorers in the 2019 class.
