By the look of things on Sunday afternoon, the Louisville Cardinals got one of the most impressive scorers in the 2018 class in Anfernee Simons. In a win for Team Breakdown against G3 Grind, Simons went off. The Louisville bound guard shot 9-16 overall and 6-9 from deep on his way to a 24 point and eight rebound performance.
About his play so far this spring, Simons said, "Overall I have been playing decent, but I don’t think I’ve played to my full potential. I’ve tried to pick it up more, and I think this past game I really got it going."
He continued about his game, "I’ve been working on my consistency in my jump shot, and also on getting stronger and getting better defensively."
Louisville had three coaches watching Simons on Sunday, one of which was Head Coach Rick Pitino. According to Simons it was big to have his future head coach watching.
"It is exciting to have them there," said Simons of Pitino. "It makes me want to play harder and just show them that I’m good and they recruited the right guy."
In terms of how he fits in at his future home, Simons is excited and feels he will come in right away and be a major part of the success at Louisville.
"I think I fit in perfectly with them because they like to let their guards play and shoot the ball, and I also think I will fit in with their pressure defense," said Simons.
All spring long Simons has been tremendous, and he brought it up even another notch on Sunday with his future head coach looking on.
