It was a productive weekend for five-star wing Scottie Lewis. One of the most athletic players in his class, Lewis is a high motor player who is working to improve his game, and college coaches continue to take notice.
"I know I have to continue to improve my jump shot because defensively I will always be there and rebounding I will always be there, but I have to be more consistent on offense so I can provide for my team," said Lewis of his game.
Lewis came into the spring with offers from schools such as Florida, St. John's, Kansas, Maryland, Notre Dame, Villanova along with others. Now Lewis is hearing from a new school, and he plans to make a visit next week.
"I will be visiting Kentucky with Bryan (Antoine) on May 5," said Lewis.
This will be a big visit for Lewis, and one that he is definitely looking forward to.
"I’m excited to hear their pitch," explained Lewis. "I’ve heard a lot on a lot of unofficial visits, but Kentucky always reloads and gets a lot of guys, so I am interested to hear their pitch and just see what Kentucky is like."
While upcoming is a new visit to Kentucky, the school Lewis has probably seen the most is Florida, and he continues to build a very good relationship with Mike White and his entire staff.
"I would say things are great with Florida," said Lewis of the Gators. "I have a connection with all of the coaches. On Saturday the entire coaching staff was at my game, so we have a good relationship and I like the school a lot."
Also Lewis has seen St. John's numerous times, and he noticed the Red Storm coaches watching him quite a bit this weekend.
"I have a very god relationship with them," said Lewis of the Red Storm. "Coach (Chris) Mullin wasn’t out this weekend, but Coach Matt (Abdelmassih) and Coach Dan (Matic) were, and Coach Brian (Klatsky) is very close with them. Also I am originally from New York and they were my first offer, so it was special to get that and they are honest with me about my game and how I have to improve and what I need to get better at."
Lewis also noted that the school he expects an offer from next is Louisville.
"Louisville came to see Bryan and I (Saturday)," said Lewis. "We showed out, so I think we can seal the deal on getting that offer soon."
At this point Lewis still has no plans to narrow down his list or make a decision, but he continues to stay in touch with coaches and build relationships.
