adidas: 2019 PF Jaden McDaniels follows older brother and former Top 100 prospect Jalen out of Washington

EMERSON, GA. - At this weekend's adidas Gauntlet, Jaden McDaniels showed that he is following in the footsteps of older brother Jalen McDaniels, a former Top 100 prospect out of Washington.

This weekend’s adidas Gauntlet in Emerson (Ga.) was filled with players who put their name on the map and one such prospect was Jaden McDaniels

The 6-foot-8, 175-pound 2019 four man from Federal Way (Wash.) played with the Northwest Panthers 16u squad.

Jaden’s older brother, San Diego State redshirt freshman Jalen McDaniels, is a former Scout Top 100 prospect who was a late bloomer with extremely similar physical attributes and skill sets at the same stage.

The younger McDaniels has good size and is still growing, has long arms, outstanding anticipation on defense from rebounding to deflections, can put the ball on the ground and hit the open shot.

“I can get to the basket; I use my athleticism and length to help me out,” McDaniels said. “I can shoot a little bit. I’m working on my on the ball defense.”

McDaniels has one offer, with a couple programs showing interest.

“Montana was my first offer,” said McDaniels. "Washington and San Diego State are showing interest. Washington has a lot of people from UW that went to the NBA.

“I know the San Diego State coaches really well and know everyone on their team. I’m really close with them.”

While attention is sure to pick up for McDaniels over the coming months, at this point he says he’s more focused on his game than recruitment.
