Devin Vassell

Every spring sleepers emerge, and Devin Vassell is one of those players this year

One player who is quickly emerging on the national radar is Georgia shooting guard Devin Vassell. Already he has one high-major offer with others potentially coming his way.

Most of the attention this weekend was on the shoe circuit events, but the Terrific 24 also had some star power in the gym. One prospect who really began to emerge was Devin Vassell. Vassell is a high scoring guard from the state of Georgia.

"I’ve been working to stay in front full court," said Vassell. "I know colleges are all about defense, so I am trying to work on that and get more consistency from game to game."

At around 6-foot-5 with long arms, solid athleticism, and a good looking shoot stroke, the upside is big for Vassell. He needs to get stronger, but coaches are beginning to see the physical tools, and making him someone to track on the recruiting trail.

"Florida State, Furman, Dartmouth, Stetson, and UCLA said they'd be watching me as well," said Vassell.

Also coaches from MiamiUCF, and Rhode Island were at Vassell's game on Saturday to evaluate him.

Still the high-major who has shown the most interest is Florida State. In fact the Seminoles have already offered him a scholarship.

"Coach (Charlton) Young has been real cool with me, and he offered me a few days ago," said Vassell. "Things are going really well with them."

Look for Vassell to continue to get more interest with his combination of scoring ability and big time upside.
