One of the west’s top small forwards in 2018 is Mesa (Ariz.) Red Mountain small forward Timmy Allen.
The 6-foot-5, 215-pound forward showed that he took the next step as a prospect this weekend at the adidas Gauntlet in Emerson (Ga.), running with the Compton Magic.
Allen has good size for a perimeter oriented attacker, long arms, a thick, strong frame and can score off the bounce or with his jumper, while he uses his ball skills to get to the basket and vision to create for teammates.
“I’m just progressing, trying to get better,” Allen said. “I feel like what I’m doing well is impacting the game everywhere. Hopefully I can keep this up.”
“I like Iowa State, Cal and Utah's coaches,” Allen said. “I’m happy about all of those offers. They say Utah is going to recruit me hard; I’ve been talking to the coaches there. I talk to the Cal assistants and head coach a lot.”
Allen is in no rush to make a decision.
“I’m completely wide open,” he said. “I’m looking for a place I can fit in and have relationships with the coaches. I’m open to anything; I’ll play anywhere.”
