Marcus Bingham talks explosion of offers

FORT WAYNE, Ind - Power forward Marcus Bingham continued his impressive spring with a big showing at the Bill Hensley Memorial Run 'N Slam on Friday night.

It has always been about upside with Marcus Bingham, but now he is turning that potential into production. Bingham had a big time showing on Friday night at the Bill Hensley Memorial Run 'N Slam showing he is more than just a long term prospect, and that he has the chance to make an immediate impact.

Coming into the spring Bingham had no high-major offers, but that is no longer the case. In the last two weeks the 6-foot-10 skilled forward has picked up high-major offers from WashingtonMichigan StatePurdueButler, and Xavier.

The most recent of those offers was from the Spartans, and that was huge for the Grand Rapids native.

"Coach (Tom) Izzo was just telling me that I kind of play like Adreian Payne and Draymond Green, and that really excited me to hear that from him," said Bingham. "He was telling me how he wanted me to be a part of his program, and that I could play for him."

Bingham has also made visits to both Butler and Purdue. Most recent was an unofficial visit to Butler.

About the Bulldogs, he said, "I had been there before to a game, but I didn’t see everything. There is just something about Hinkle Fieldhouse that excites me. When I go there it is just exciting."

When it comes to Purdue, Bingham said, "When I went to Purdue it was so loud. I love playing in front of big crowd, and when I left there I almost felt like I had a headache it was so loud, so I really liked that."

At this point Bingham doesn't know too much about Xavier, but he has heard good things about the program.

"I don’t know too much about Xavier," noted Bingham. "A few of my friends like Gabe Brown have visited there and liked the school, but I don’t know too much about them."

Interestingly an offer that Bingham said really got his attention was from Washington.

About the Huskies, he said, "It is a Pac 12 school that is far away. I never thought they’d be watching me. We talk here and there, and they text me every other day."

Currently Bingham is taking it all in on the recruiting trail and would like to take visits before narrowing down his list.
