Five-star Ayo Dosunmu updates his recruitment

FORT WAYNE, Ind - Five-star point guard Ayo Dosunmu put on a show scoring the ball and making others better at the Bill Hensley Run N Slam, and talked about where things stand in his recruitment.

Five-star floor general Ayo Dosunmu put on a show at the Bill Hensley Memorial Run 'N Slam. Dosunmu, who is one of the top athletes at the point guard position, put the Mac Irvin Fire on his back at times and had a big time scoring display. At the moment Dosumnu continues to move forward in his recruitment with a lot of coaches looking on.

"I think I have been playing well," said Dosunmu. "I am still coming off of an injury, so I had a chip on my shoulder because a lot of people didn’t think I could have the same energy and intensity I had last summer, so I want to show everybody I’m still here."

One noticeable improvement has been with his jumper. While it still is a work in progress, Dosunmu continues to refine his jumper and is working hard to be more consistent with it every day.

"I work on my jump shot with Nick (Irvin) every day after practice," said Dosunmu. "Even when I was hurt I worked on my jumper, and just improving my form. I keep working on getting my shot over my head, and it just comes with confidence."

On the recruiting trail schools such as IllinoisXavierNorthwesternCreighton, and others have been recruiting him hard for a while, and now one ACC school is really stepping things up.

"NC State has been coming in really hard since they offered,"said Dosunmu.

About the Wolfpack he added, "They just tell me that they like to play with grimy guards that can run the show and play the game. Coach (Kevin) Keatts is telling me about how he will let me play my game, and how I fit into their system."

Also Illinois has made sure to make Dosunmu a priority, and he says the recent addition of Mark Smith along with Trent Frazier isn't a deterrent for him.

"I know their roster has a lot of guards, but at the end of the day I am only worried about the school I am most comfortable with," said Dosunmu. "When it comes time to make a decision I am going to look at the X and O’s with my parents and coaches, and just make the best decision for me, so Illinois taking Mark doesn’t impact me at all."

Another school that has put in a ton of work is Xavier, and the Musketeer coaches have built a very strong relationship with Dosunmu.

"I really like Xavier," noted Dosunmu. "Coach (Luke) Murray and Coach (Chris) Mack, that is a tremendous coaching staff. They are just a great program and they come out to my games, and talk to me a lot, so I really like Xavier."

For now Dosunmu says he has no timetable to make a decision and simply taking things on a week to week basis.
