Point guard Jalen Gaffney is one of the key cogs to the very talented Team Rio squad on the Under Armour Association. A team made up mostly of underclassmen, Gaffney has to be the leader at a young age, so college coaches are definitely taking notice.
"This spring has gone really well," said Gaffney. "I haven’t played my best, but I have gotten it done individually, and as a team I think I think we have played well."
In terms of what he is working on with his game, Gaffney replied, "There is no one thing I’m working on. I am working on everything. With that I know I have to continue to get better coming off of screen and roll situations and on defense."
When it comes to his recruitment, Gaffney already has one high-major offer, with several other schools taking close looks at him.
For Gaffney it was big to get the offer from the Red Storm, and he is very interested in the Big East school.
"It was my second offer, so it was amazing," said Gaffney. "To get offered by a legend like Coach Mullin was an amazing feeling."
For now Gaffney is just focused on getting better, and he says he wants to make visits to the schools interested in him before narrowing down his list and making a decision.
