CIA Bounce has a talented Canada native in 2019 point guard Joel Brown.
The 6-foot-3, 180-pound athlete played for Aspire Academy in Arizona last season but the prep school will move to Louisville (Ky.) next season and Brown will be along for the change.
Brown is an extremely quick point guard with good size and length who is an excellent ball handler and passer.
“I’m a good defender,” Brown said. “I bring energy to my team, I’m a pass-first point guard and look to get my teammates involved and I penetrate and kick out.
“I’m working on my perimeter game – shooting, midrange and pick and roll - and trying to get a bucket at times.”
Brown’s first offer is from Rutgers, he said.
“I like coach (Steve) Pikiell,” Brown said. “He’s a really nice gentleman and talked to me about his principles and how he talks to his teammates and gets everyone involved. They’re in a tough conference in the Big Ten and their guys play tough.”
The rising junior has an idea what he wants in a school.
“I’m looking for a great connection with the coach and players,” said Brown. “I need to know the other players’ weaknesses and strengths so I know how to pass them the ball.”
