The third EYBL session has been more of the same for five-star point guard Darius Garland. Garland was fantastic all day on Saturday with two impressive showings, and college coaches are continuing to make him a priority recruit.
"The spring has gone really well," noted Garland. "We have played well as a team, and I think I have evolved some."
He continued, "I am focused on being more of a communicator and staying aggressive all the time throughout the game."
To this point Garland has made a few unofficial visits, when asked if he plans to make any other trips in the near future, Garland said, "I haven’t thought about visits yet, but I will begin doing that soon."
When it comes to some of his top schools, it is clear that certain coaches are doing everything possible to land his commitment.
Archie Miller and his staff have made it a point to recruit Garland very hard since getting to Bloomington.
About the Hoosiers, Garland said, "We have built a relationship really fast. They just got in and they have made me a priority, and I think Coach Miller is going to do really well, so it is a school I’m very interested in."
Close to home Bryce Drew and Vanderbilt have also done a really good job of making Garland feel wanted.
When it comes to Vanderbilt, Garland said, "They are always in contact with me and come to see me at the school, and I like the staff, so things are good with Vanderbilt."
A school that has long been linked to Garland is Duke. According to the five-star prospect Mike Krzyzewski has made it clear that he remains very committed to getting Garland to campus.
"Right now Duke just says that they really want me there," noted Garland. "They like my style of play and how I am a leader, so they have made it clear they want me to be a part of their program."
At this point there is no timetable for a commitment for Garland who wants to make visits before issuing a final decision.
