Talented wing Brandon Slater talks top options

Four-star wing Brandon Slater continues to be a highly recruited prospect with numerous top level schools showing him significant attention.

Four-star wing Brandon Slater has always been one of the most physically gifted players in the class of 2018. With an excellent combination of size, length, athleticism, and skill, Slater is full of upside, and college coaches continue to make him a priority recruit.

Slater has had a solid spring with Team Takeover. A kid with a knack for scoring, Slater says he is focused on becoming a more well rounded player heading into his senior season.

"I definitely focused on being more competitive every play and every game," noted Slater. "I have been trying to make an impact doing other things besides scoring. I am just trying to make the hustle plays and rebound, and things like that."

On the recruiting trail things haven't slowed down at all for Slater who continues to be a priority recruit.

"Maryland, Miami, Virginia, Villanova, Wake Forest, South Carolina, and a few others definitely there watching in April," said Slater.

About the Terrpains, Slater said, "Maryland is my hometown team. It is right there, and it is everything you could want. I would be playing in front of friends and family, and they have a great coaching staff as well."

Another school that has long been on the radar for Slater is Villanova. He has seen the school several times, and continues to have a good relationship with the program.

"They are a defensive minded team like Takeover and PVI," said Slater of Villanova. "Also Coach (Jay) Wright is a great guy, and I think I could come in there right away and make an impact."

The Miami Hurricanes have been very effective recruiting in the Washington D.C. area recently, and are hoping to continue that run with Slater.

"They just say that you know how we will put players in the league," said Slater of Miami. "Also I have gelled real well with the players down there as well as the coaching staff."

When it comes to the next step in his recruitment, Slater said, "I am probably going to take some visits after Peach Jam and then decide."
