Q&A with 2018 four-star Keldon Johnson

Keldon Johnson, a 6-foot-6 wing out of Huntington (W.V.) Prep, is top 10 in scoring in the Nike EYBL. During the Atlanta session, Johnson sat down with Scout to discuss his game, development and the latest in his recruitment.

Evan Daniels: How has spring been going for you?
Keldon Johnson: It’s been going really good. We got some great stars in the EYBL. We just been playing well as a team, holding each other accountable, doing what we got to do to win.

What about you personally?
I’m doing good. Leading my team, scoring a little bit, defending a lot, playing hard and things like that.

When you’re at your best what’re you doing on the court?
Everything. Defensive stops, playing hard, scoring, getting rebounds, just doing what it takes for my team to win.

Do you think you can keep scoring at this type of rate?
Yeah but I would rather my team win then lead the EYBL in scoring. Wins is all we look for, we don’t look for who scored the most points and things like that, we just look for things to get our team the next win and just all from there.

How is the recruiting process going?
It’s going really good, it’s picking up a lot since the last two sessions. Just staying patient.

Who is prioritizing you?
A lot of colleges. A lot of them are saying I’m their main guard in 2018 and things like that.

Have you taken any visits?
Not really. When I was down in Texas last year, I took an unofficial down to Texas.

What do you like about them?
They are honest. They just don’t tell me what I need to hear, they tell me what I need to do to get better and things like that and they stay in touch a lot.

Any schools you know you want to go see?
I’m going to try to make it out to as many as possible and just enjoy it.
