Wilson currently is viewed as the No. 50 prospect in the 2018 class, but he has decided to move into the 2017 class, and he will be eligible to compete for St. John's right away.
The best thing that Wilson brings to the floor is versatility. At just shy of 6-foot-7 he can play either forward spot, and is the type of prospect who can defend all over the court. Wilson has long arms, plus athleticism, and his skill level has continually improved on the offensive end. Right now Wilson is at his best in the mid-range. He has an excellent pull up jumper, and also can hit the mid-range shot off the catch.
With his ability to score in the mid-range, the next step for Wilson is to get consistent with his perimeter jumper. He is more than capable of making the shot from deep, but he can be streaky with that.
Look for Wilson to compete for minutes right away in Queens, and potentially be a big time contributor as his career goes along.
WIlson is the only member of St. John's 2017 recruiting class.
