Everett Spencer, a perimeter standout from Ohio, committed to Paul Biancardi's Wright State program this week.
Spencer rolled with Brookhaven, last year's state runner-up in Ohio. He's a great athlete for a mid-major program to latch itself onto and this is a very good addition for the Raiders. In fact, it comes on the heels on another commitment from the week before.
Power forward Jordan Pleiman, a 6-8 standout from Fort Loramie (OH) High committed to Biancardi last week. And, the Raiders might not be finished. This weekend, they have LaMorris Wallace, a 6-10 junior college player on their campus.
Wallace began his career at Redlands JC where he injured his knee and moved onto Triton College. UMass and Wyoming are interested in him but he's on his official to Wright State this weekend.
DeSantis, Quinnipiac Add Shooter
DaShawn Dwight started every game for coach Nick Marinello since his freshman season at Bloomfield Tech. Now, he's taking his game to Quinnipiac.
Dwight, after considering interest from Drexel, Rider and Central Connecticut, committed to Joe DeSantis' program this week.
"Their style is very conducive to how he plays," Marinello said. "He's a scoring point guard and I think because of his size, he's definitely going to play the point. Joe is going to allow him to come down and shoot."
Having seen Dwight on a number of occasions, the aspect of his game that stands out the most is his stroke. He's a big time shooter at the mid-major level. However, his high school coach likes another aspect of his game better.
"I think his best strength is his leadership. He's a great leader and a great kid. He's a tough kid and a good student. From a basketball standpoint, every time he shoots the ball it looks like it was going in."
Western Michigan Lands Big Man
Last week, Western Michigan got more athletic. This week, they just got bigger.
Joe Reitz, a power forward from Indiana, committed to the school. Reitz was thought to be a Division I football recruit as well.
Seahawks Add Scorer
Daniel Fountain took his game to another level last summer. His scoring performances with the Boo Williams AAU team didn't go unnoticed. He had possibly his shining moment at the Nike Peach Jam when he led the team in scoring.
This week, Fountain committed to UNC-Wilmington. He joins Dylan Grimsley, a forward from Iowa.
Northeastern Adds To From Winchendon
The Northeastern Huskies have added a pair of players in the Class of 2004 and they didn't have to travel far to do it. In fact, both of Northeastern's commitments play for Mike Byrnes at Winchendon.
The Huskies added Mantas Griskenas a 6-7 combo forward. They also added 6-6 forward Steward Baldonado to the mix.
