Daniel Set For Weekend Visit

Maryville (TN) High's Ryan Daniel has narrowed his focus. He has slightly over a handful of schools that he's interested in, but four are weighing heavily on his mind.

While playing with the Alabama Challenge at the AAU Nationals, Ryan Daniel was able to impress a handful of onlookers bearing scholarship offers.

For instance, he's got offers from Massachusetts, Chattanooga, Western Kentucky, Lipscomb and Belmont. Auburn is taking a strong look at him as well. His top four are UMass, Chattanooga, Western Kentucky and Auburn.

The Tigers have yet to offer but they're sending in a big gun for a Thursday viewing. "They're coming [Thursday] to my school to watch me play," Daniel said. "It'll be Cliff Ellis the head coach and I think coach Weaver."

After the Auburn in-school visit, he's off to Amherst for the weekend where he'll visit with Steve Lappas on his first official trip. He'll be at Chattanooga next Tuesday through Wednesday for an official and says that he's setting a date with Auburn, visits Lipscomb the last weekend in September and will go to Western in October.

With all these trips happening in the next few weeks, the question was asked. Just what is he looking for? "The chemistry between the coaches and the players and the relationship that the coaches and players have. The style of play and the campus. It can be mid-major or high-major."

Last season, Daniel averaged 14 points a game.
