We spoke yesterday with Quentin's father, John Thomas, about the visit and his son's recruitment.
"They were here for about three and a half hours," said Thomas. "It went very well -- we had a very good talk."
Thomas said that Williams made it clear the Tar Heels were offering a scholarship. "Yes, they've offered a scholarship and they would like Quentin to take an official visit," said Thomas. "Coach Williams pointed out that he's been on Quentin longer than anyone, going back to when he was a sophomore."
Due to some prior commitments, Thomas said that the earliest they could take an official visit would be mid to late October.
Thomas will visit Kansas next week and he took a trip to Arizona St. last weekend.
Of the Arizona St. trip, Thomas said, "It was real nice. We had a chance to talk with the academic advisors -- which was important to me -- we went to the football game and Quentin got to work out with the players. I thought he fit in real quick with the guys -- I had a good feeling watching him there."
We asked Thomas about the timing of the decision. "We might be ready a few weeks after the Kansas visit," Thomas said.
However, he seemed to imply that a trip to North Carolina wasn't necessary and the lack of one wouldn't impact their chances. "I don't know if he'll trip, since it wouldn't be until later in October," said Thomas. "But things have worked out well -- we have three great options.
