Big East School Lands Commitment

Last year Randall Hanke was a near-lock to attend Elon College. After a summer in which he was the MVP of the Eastern Invitational, the 6-11, 215-pound senior raised his game to the Big East level and committed to Providence on Thursday.

Randall Hanke, who has gone from the Hill School (N.J.) to Trinity Pawling (N.Y.) this year, also fielded interest from Boston College, Villanova and N.C. State.

``I'm very excited for him. It was a good move," Trinity Pawling coach Bill Casson said. "He found a lot of the things he was looking for in Providence, including academically. It's a nice match."

``Everything I've seen of him so far is very impressive," added Casson. "He has good size, runs the floor well and the best thing I've seen is that he keeps the ball up and never brings it down."

Hanke joins a Friars recruiting class that already includes Cardinal Dougherty (Pa.) 6-7 power forward DeSean White and 6-9, 300-pound big man Anthony Ivory, who is at the Marriott Charter (Md.) school and will likely attend prep school next year.

Providence will host solid New York City point guard Ronald Ramon this weekend.
