Robinson Favors a Trio

New York City guard Russell Robinson has already taken a pair of official visits and will head to a third, Kansas, this weekend. A fourth visit may not be necessary.

Rice High (N.Y.) combo guard Russell Robinson has three schools that have separated themselves – two of which he's already visited and one that he'll be heading to this weekend.

The 6-2 ½, 185-pound Robinson has UConn, Georgia Tech and Kansas as his trio of leaders. He visited the Huskies on Sept. 12 and just returned from Georgia Tech. Robinson will visit Kansas this weekend and also has a trip set up to Kentucky for Oct. 17., but that may not even happen.

``I really liked UConn and the thing that stuck out to me was that all their players really use the weight room," Robinson said. "They're all huge."

As for his trip down south, Robinson was impressed with Georgia Tech coach Paul Hewitt and his staff.

``It's in Atlanta and they have good coaches," he said. "The campus is OK and they have a lot of off-campus things you can get into."

``After I take my Kansas visit, there might not even be a need for me to visit Kentucky," Robinson said. "Kentucky is on the back burner right now because the first three have been on me pretty hard while Kentucky has been real laid-back and not really calling me like that."

Robinson, one of the top outside shooters in the senior class, has also mentioned St. John's, Florida State and Pittsburgh, but it's likely that he will choose from one of his three leaders after this weekend's visit to Kansas.
