We spoke with Brandon Roy, 6-5 SF Seattle (Wash.) Garfield, last night and he said his list is composed of five schools at this point -- Arizona, Washington, Gonzaga, Boston College and Oregon.
We asked if he has a leader and Brandon said, "No, I don't have a leader yet."
Brandon has not yet been able to take any official visits because he has not posted a test score on either the SAT or ACT. But he took the ACT on Saturday and will be able to trip as soon as he gets a score.
He has taken an unofficial trip to Oregon and we asked him for his thoughts on the trip. "It was really nice," Brandon said. "I went during their first football game and it was a great environment."
We asked if distance from home would play a factor in his decision and Brandon replied, "A little bit. Boston College is really the main one that's far from home, but it's not too big a deal. And they've done a good job of showing me how I'd fit in there, so I'm not worrying too much about the distance."
When questioned about the opportunity to get early playing time, Brandon said, "I think I can play anywhere, and the schools recruiting me have spots at the two or three anyway."
We asked Brandon if it was an issue for him that some schools on his list might seem to have better chances of going deep into the tournament, or perhaps even to the Final Four, than others. "No, not really," Brandon replied. "I kind of look at it like what can I bring to the team, and what might we be able to do in the future, instead of what has happened in the past."
Brandon told us that he currently has a 2.0 GPA, but hopes to raise that significantly by the end of the year. He plans on signing in the fall.
