Brackman Down To A Pair

Andrew Brackman's decision is two-fold. Will he play basketball or baseball or both? Well, he still hasn't decided but he's got two finalists.

91 MPH. That's the speed of Andrew Brackman's fastball. Not too shabby, huh? Some think he's the top baseball prospect in Ohio and a potential early round draft choice.

Well, the guy can hoop too. has him No. 78 in the country entering his senior season and his stock is on the rise. It's decision time for the two-sport standout.

Right now, he's looking at just two schools: Georgia Tech and North Carolina State. The Yellow Jackets are in the mix solely as a baseball option while the Pack is in the game as two-sport school.

Brackman took a baseball visit to Tech last month and will return there with his family the weekend of Oct. 11. He'll visit N.C. State on a basketball visit the weekend of Oct. 25. Now, at that time, you can expect the Pack baseball team to spend some time with him as well.

Brackman has relatives in the Atlanta area and that's appealing. On the other hand, according to Brackman, Herb Sendek has said that if "I just wanted to play baseball I could do that and if I had any second thoughts I could come back and play basketball."

Regardless, the decision comes down to this: can a prospect this good on the diamond integrate basketball into his college life? What about the MLB draft?

Once he decides on his college path as far as one or two sports, the college choice will be easy at that point since his two options differ.

Could he really just walk away from hoops after improving so much over the summer? "I think pretty hard because I worked pretty hard going to morning workouts and everything. I knew I'd have to [choose] but I didn't think it was going to be this hard."
