Murray State Lands Marksman

Harpeth High's Shane Dansby, a standout with the Tennessee Travelers, is headed to Murray State.

Murray State head coach Mick Cronin is set to get married this weekend but that didn't stop him from courting prospects during the week.

Cronin, known as an intense recruiter, took a pledge from shooting guard Shane Dansby this week. Dansby had been particularly impressive during the spring as he showed range on his jumper with the Tennessee Travelers.

"I liked the coaches and the players," Dansby said. "When I went up there on my visit it was a basketball town and they really care about basketball."

Dansby also was recruited by East Tennessee State, Belmont, Tennessee State, Arkansas-Little Rock and Middle Tennessee State.

In the end, he felt a pull toward Cronin. "He's real cool. You could tell he knows what he's talking about. He's been under Bob Huggins and coach Pitino. Me and him, we clicked easily.

"I think I'll do everything. I'll rebound and be a spot up shooter. I'll shoot 3s a lot and that's what I plan to do."
