"I wondered why [OU] had stopped calling," Thomas said. "I didn't even know they had signed a dude until my coach called and told me."
Still, two more SEC programs and possibly a third will receive visits. Georgia begins that process this weekend. "You only get this once in a lifetime so if I get a visit I'm going to take it."
After the Georgia trip, Thomas heads to Arkansas the following weekend. The Hogs have his AAU teammate and No. 3 prospect in America, already committed. Al Jefferson, barring a flirtation with the NBA, will be in Fayetteville next season. Mississippi could also be in line for a visit.
Thomas recently transferred back to Callaway High, the school where he started his high school career. He was there as a freshman and then played two seasons at Lanier.
