Friday's Commitments

There's been a little flurry of commitments as the week draws to a close. The biggest news comes from Ames where the Cyclones landed one of the nation's best junior college point men.

ISU Lands Big-Time Juco

Van Coleman of FutureStars checked in on Friday with a commitment update. Coleman says that his No. 2 ranked junior college point guard, Tim Barnes, committed to Iowa State. The Southeastern Junior College point man scored 15 points and handed out 8 assists as a freshman.

The Cyclones now have four commitments. They have two juco bigs in Jackson Vroman and Chris Alexander. Eustachy's bunch also holds a commitment from Top 100 swingman Adam Haluska.

Clemson Adds Akinbala

Larry Shyatt's Clemson program has its second commitment of the year. Following Raleigh Leesville Road point guard Shawan Robinson to Clemson is forward Akin Akinbala of Greenwich (CT) Brunswick.

The 6-9, 205-pounder averaged 16 points a contest last year. He's originally from Nigeria.

Ohio State Goes Bass Fishing

In speaking to Charles Bass last week, we knew a decision was on the horizon. On Friday, Bass made it official for the Ohio State Buckeyes. He also looked strongly at Minnesota and George Washington. In Columbus, he joins a class that already includes swingman Ricardo Billings.

Richardson Makes It Official

The buzz for the last two months was that swingman Sam Richardson, a standout with the Southeast Raptors, was headed for Mississippi State. This week, Richardson took steps to make his commitment known. His announcement comes on the heels of MSU landing juco power forward Kei Madison.
