Mays Has Great Clemson Visit

Garner High forward James Mays visited Clemson this past weekend. The Tigers are a big time player in his recruitment. However, no news on the commitment front.

James Mays took his first official visit to South Carolina. His second was to Clemson. By his account, the Tigers are sitting in pretty good shape.

"I've been to South Carolina, that was my first official," Mays said. "They have some good facilities and the coaching staff is down to earth but I felt a little more comfortable with Clemson."

Right now, the Tigers appear to be in the driver's seat. "From a basketball standpoint, I have a great opportunity to come in and play. They're recruiting me as a combo forward but more as a high-post four. More of a slashing power forward man. It's not like a big post forward but more where I can use my athleticism."

And he's got considerable athleticism. In fact, Mays' game is predicated on getting out and running. He's a quick leaper who can play at or above the rim.

In addition to Clemson and USC, he's looking at Virginia Tech and Fordham. However, at this juncture, he does not have another official visit scheduled.
