Oguchi Happy To Be A Duck

Houston Select shooting guard Chamberlain Oguchi is headed to the Pac-10. Oguchi, ranked No. 93, made his decision this week.

It's not often a team from the Pacific Northwest storms into Texas and nabs a Top 100 prospect. Well, this week, that was the case with the Oregon Ducks and shooting guard Chamberlain Oguchi.

Ernie Kent's Ducks beat out Georgia Tech, Oklahoma and Kansas State. Oguchi averaged 25 points and 6 rebounds as a junior and made considerable strides with his game during the spring and summer. He's a gifted shooter and better athlete than he's generally given credit for.

Oregon's style was a big factor for him. "They're just a run-and-gun up and down type team and they shoot a lot of 3s. They were a good fit for me. They're just going to use me on the wings and in transition. Me and Bryce [Taylor] are going to go out there and do our thing."

Oguchi was thought to be a serious Oklahoma lean for a good while so the Ducks had to come from behind on this one.

"I'm going to tell you, it was real hard. It was something I had to think about and I realized this was a decision that was going to affect me for the rest of my life. It was real hard."
