Towson Gains First Recruit

Michael Hunt at Towson University received his first commitment of the year from a member of the Class of 2002. A big man from the Tennessee Travelers selected the Tigers this week.

McCartney Picks Tigers

Jacob McCartney, a 6-10, 210 pound center from Oak Ridge (TN) Academy selected the Towson Tigers over Bowling Green, James Madison, Central Florida and Radford.

"I went down there last weekend for an official visit and I really liked the place, the people and the campus," McCartney said. "It's a new conference so it'll be fun to part of something new."

Last year, McCartney averaged 11 points and 8 rebounds. This summer, he wasn't available to play in every tournament Charlie Benson's Travelers participated in, thus limiting his exposure. "I was out the first part of the year because I had surgery on my sinus and towards the end I had problems with my joints."

Towson, previously a member of the America East Conference, is making its debut in the CAA this year and Hunt is in his first season as coach of the Tigers.
