According to sources, Yannick Noah met with the Florida staff and gave his approval. Once that happened, it was academic for the Gators.
"It is a great place and the right decision," Joakim said. "What can you say? It's Florida!"
Noah is one of the interesting players in his class. Blessed with a superb work ethic – which he picked up from his dad – Noah has taken his game up a notch since the start of the spring AAU season.
Though he's not the most physically mature prospect, he's got great size, hands and natural rebounding and shot blocking instincts. Florida has always valued players who are unfinished products. Noah wants to work to improve and Billy Donovan's program emphasizes individual instruction with the best of them. The fit seemed natural.
"It was different and that was important," Noah said. "Plus, I'm tired of being cold."
Well, he's got one more season in the northeast and then he can toss the electric blanket aside.
