Junior Profile: Jonathan Gibson

Jonathan Gibson isn't known by many people outside of the west, but he has a chance to be among the beetter guards in the 2005 West Coast class...

Jonathan Gibson, 5-11 JR PG West Covina (Calif.) High, is something of a sleeper who figures to draw plenty of attention from college coaches in the next year. With good quickness, a nice frame and a very nice outside stroke, Gibson has a chance to be among the elite guards in the West Coast class of 2005.

We spoke with Gibson recently and asked him about the schools that have been expressing interest in him so far. "UConn, Washington, Oregon, Pepperdine, San Diego, Northridge, Colorado State, Stanford, Texas Tech and Minnesota," said Gibson.

When asked if any schools stand out from the pack, Gibson replied, "UConn, Stanford and Washington."

Given that those three schools are from major conferences, does that mean that Gibson would prefer to play at the highest level? "Yeah, I'd like to play in a big conference," said Gibson.

Gibson said location and weather won't be factors in his decision. "That doesn't matter," said Gibson. "I'll go anywhere."

Playing time is something that Gibson said he'll consider strongly when making his choice. "I want to play, so I'll look at who they have," said Gibson.

Gibson doesn't anticipate making a decision early in the process. "I'll probably wait for a little bit," said Gibson. "I want to see what my options are."

We asked Gibson if he had a favorite school when he was younger. "North Carolina and Georgetown were my favorites," said Gibson.

Gibson told us that he has a 3.4 GPA and he'll take the PSAT this Saturday.
