Cyclones Go For Junior Guard

It's almost like a high-major basketball game of chess. Steve Alford takes a commitment from an underclassman and then Larry Eustachy follows suit. We've seen it before and it's happened again in Ames. There must be something in the water in the state of Iowa.

Cyclones Land Junior Guard

According to Van Coleman, a colleague and director of FutureStars, Iowa State landed a commitment from a member of the Class of 2003.

According to Coleman, the Cyclones landed a commitment from 6-2 junior combo guard Mike Henderson of Waterloo (IA) East over the weekend. Henderson was injured during the summer period and as a result did not travel with Hank Huddleson's Martin Brothers Select AAU team.

"He's a slashing-type guard who can put up numbers off the dribble," Coleman said. "He's a streaky shooter who will have to add consistency to his shot outside 17 feet before he joins the Cyclones to contribute as a frosh. He has two years to work on it. Currently, Henderson would project as a Top 150 prospect, but with an improved jumper would probably move into the Top 100."
