Bearcats Nab Forward
Recently, small forward Armein Kirkland made an official visit to Cincinnati. Earlier, he made a stop at SMU, but there will be no more visits for Kirkland who also considered Texas Tech and Houston.
"Actually, I committed to Cincinnati," Kirkland said. "The wining tradition they have, I want to be part of it. It's the best program to help me improve my game and make it to the next level."
It's a big commitment for the Bearcats who have been chasing him for a while. He'll bring versatility to the lineup and is cut from the mold of those skilled, athletic types that Bob Huggins likes to play with. "We talked about me playing all over – all the guard positions one through three."
Last year, Kirkland averaged 17 points and 9 rebounds. He played at Big Time with the Tru Playaz BC and also at the adidas ABCD Camp.
The visit to Cincinnati was the clincher for Kirkland. "It went good. I enjoyed the guys. I think it's a great decision for me."
Certainly, Huggins agrees.
