The Brunswick (Maine) High senior combo guard, who was raised in Florida and wants desperately to return so the southeast, recently took an official visit to Florida State and would commit to the Seminoles in a heartbeat if the staff puts forth a scholarship offer.
``The place is amazing," Mims said. "I couldn't believe it. It's ridiculous how good the place is."
``It's where I want to be," he added. "I'll do anything to get there."
The problem is that FSU just picked up commitments from a pair of highly touted guards – in-state wing Jason Rich and senior combo guard Isaiah Swann. It's unlikely that the ‘Noles will offer Mims prior to the spring – and there's a decent chance they may elect to pass altogether on the high-scoring guard because of a need for big men.
Mims' other option right now is South Carolina, where he returned from an official visit this past weekend.
``Not to be rude, but I can't compare South Carolina to Florida State," Mims said.
Mims was also slated to visit Minnesota, but canceled the visit because he realized he didn't want to end up in the Midwest.
``I'm not taking it because I don't want to waste their time," he added.
For now, Mims will just sit and wait. Other than South Carolina, the other option is nearby Providence, where Mims has said he won't take an official visit because he's already been to the campus nearly a half-dozen times.
