Prep School Countdown: No. 17 Lutheran Christian

Coach Darryl Schoefield brought in plenty of bodies this year - enough to form a pair of teams. These guys are stacked with local talent and a few other frontline guys who could be Big East guys.

We're unveiling the most extensive and only prep school poll of its kind and we'll take a look at Philadelphia Lutheran Christian (Pa.), which checks in at No. 17.

Darryl Schoefield has so many players, that he's got a pair of teams this season. We're not going to go through all of them, but let's just say the big man has enough bodies.

It all starts with a pair of local guys – 6-3, 185-pound senior guard Marvin Kilgore and 6-10, 235-pound East Carolina-bound big man Charles Bronson – as well as 6-10, 220-pound Brooklyn native Vernon Goodrich and 6-8, 230-pound post-grad Stanley Branch, whose grades are the only thing holding him back from receiving a Big East scholarship for now.

Kilgore is a combo guard who gets to the basket and is getting plenty of mid-major looks. He lists Marshall, Clemson, Charlotte, Binghamton, Liberty and St. Bonaventure as those who have shown interest.

Goodrich, who attended Milford Academy (Conn.) last season before the school closed its doors, is aiming for the Big East and currently he likes Seton Hall, Iowa State, Marquette and Fordham.

Plenty of other guys will battle for playing time, including 6-foot, 180-pound senior point guard Brian Nichols, 6-8, 170-pound junior wing Ihsan Phillips, 6-8, 215-pound junior power forward Maurice Thomas, 6-5, 180-pound senior wing Calvin O'Neil (Newark, N.J.) and 6-8, 200-pound junior power forward Khalil Hartwell.

One intriguing pickup for Lutheran was that of agile 6-11, 180-pound junior Kellen Lee from Colorado. Other players expected to suit up for the #1 team include 6-4, 190-pound swingman Craig Johnston (Austin, Texas), 6-4, 215-pound wing Corriche Gaskins (New Britain, Conn.), who transferred from Redemption, and 6-foot, 165-pound senior guard Brandon Void, the best passer on the team.
