Houston Fancher (left) and the Appalachian State Mountaineers received big news this week. According to our sources, Appalachian State received a commitment from one of the top seniors in North Carolina.

Minter Picks Mountaineers

Donte Minter, a power forward from Mount Ulla (NC) West Rowan, committed to Appalachian State on Monday, according to our sources.

Minter had been receiving recruiting interest from East Carolina, Virginia Tech and The College of Charleston prior to selecting the Mountaineers.

As a player, he's an inside guy who can score. He's a fine addition and projects as a guy who can likely make an impact in the Southern Conference. He played this summer with the Charlotte Royals on the AAU circuit and also was a member of the South Team at the USA Basketball Youth Development Camp.

Minter's commitment is Appalachian State's second of the year. A few months ago, the Mountaineers received a commitment from guard Nathan Cranford.
