Gauchos Pull Off Recruiting Coup

It's not too often that you see a school like UC Santa Barbara beating out Pac-10 schools for a player. But that's exactly what happened when Bob Williams and his staff landed Josh Davis...

Bob Williams and his staff at UC Santa Barbara won a major recruiting battle when they received a commitment from Josh Davis, 6-5 SG Sacramento (Calif.) Elk Grove. Davis, the #3 ranked shooting guard in the west, was being pursued by Santa Clara, UTEP, Oregon and Cal.

We spoke with Josh last night and he explained his decision. "I like the future for the team," Josh said. "I also like the staff and the players. I have a lot of respect for the staff. And I'm impressed with their academic program."

Davis joins Glen Turner, 6-8 PF/C Campbell (Calif.) Overfelt, in the UCSB class. The Gauchos are still pursuing 6-8 combo forward Matt McKinney.
