Checking In With Jai Lewis

Paul Bowden and his brother Scott are churning out Division I players from their Baltimore Select program. Jai Lewis, a frontcourt starter for Select, is making the college rounds this month.

Lewis Has Visited Three

Aberdeen, Md., is the birthplace of Baltimore Orioles great Cal Ripken. It's also the home of Baltimore Select big man Jai Lewis. The 6-6, 270 pounder is prepping this year at Maine Central Institute.

Lewis had already made three official visits: Drexel, George Mason and Robert Morris. James Madison, Rhode Island, LaSalle, Marshall, Youngstown State, Ohio U. and Central Florida are challenging for his fourth visit.

The fifth visit belongs to Mack McCarthy's Virginia Commonwealth program. Lewis is very high on the Rams and he's already been on their campus for an unofficial visit in August.

"Jai has been a pleasant surprise for coach Hendrickson at MCI," Paul Bowden, Select head coach said. "He may wind up being MCI's best low post player. Since stepping on campus, Jai has seen his recruiting pick up and he is really taking it all in and trying to make all of his visits so he makes the right decision."

Lewis is still in need of a test score, thus the reason he's at MCI.
