Haryasz Makes a Decision

One of the best players in the west, 6-10 Matt Haryasz of Page, Arizona, made the choice last night between his two finalists: Stanford and ASU...

Matt Haryasz, 6-10 C, Page (Ariz.) High, verbally committed to Stanford last night, picking the Cardinal over ASU.

Haryasz had taken official visits to both schools and had in-home visits from coaches of both programs.  In the last two weeks, Harasz indicated that he went back and forth between ASU and Stanford. Thursday night, Haryasz said he then chose Stanford  because of "the educational value," the 100% graduation rate of its players, and the success the program has achieved under Head Coach Mike Montgomery.

Haryasz said that he enjoyed both of his official visits and liked the players and coaching staffs at both schools.

Haryasz has a 3.6 GPA and scored a 1060 on his SAT.
