Rumble On The Ridge Recap

There were a number of holiday events last weekend and we couldn't cover them all. However, the good folks at the Rumble On The Ridge sent us over all the information from the tournament.

The nation's top-ranked junior, power forward Tasmin Mitchell, was on display last weekend at the Rumble on the Ridge in Forrest City, Ark., last week. Mitchell had a great weekend averaging 21.6 points and 12.3 rebounds. But, in the end, North Little Rock (AR) Pulaski Academy, took home the championship.

Regarded as the top team in the state of Arkansas by most, Samuel Munsey led the charge. He went for 13 points in the championship game – a 50-48 victory over Denham Springs – and averaged 22.6 points in three games. Munsey made 50% of his 3-pointers (10-20) and was named MVP of the tournament.

"He didn't have a great shooting night [in the finals], but I still say he is the best pure shooter in the state of Arkansas and most importantly he is a winner," Matt Daniel, Pulaski's coach, told Hogs Illustrated. "He's not getting any high Division I looks right now – just low ones and Division 2 - but I have played and coached in college (at Texas Arlington) and I can tell you he is a high DI player."

In addition to fine efforts by Munsey and Mitchell, Alabama signee Ron Steele of John Carroll put up some big numbers. In three games he averaged 23.3 points. Mississippi State point guard signee Charlie White of Provine had a high-game of 27 and averaged 23 points in the event.

Justin Hare, the senior guard out of Bradley Central led the tournament in scoring with a 25.6 average.
