2005 Focus: Jordan Wilkes

Jordan Wilkes, a 6-10 junior center from Los Angeles, is the third player in his family, following father Jamaal and brother Omar...

Jordan Wilkes, 6-10 JR C Los Angeles (Calif.) Loyola, is a developing big man who is still growing into his body. He's got some decent skills, but he's still at that awkward stage that young post players face when they're not yet comfortable in their bodies.

We spoke with Wilkes recently and asked about the schools that interest him.

"I like the locals," said Wilkes. "UCLA and USC. Also Illinois and Washington -- I like Coach Romar a lot."

Wilkes said that, preference for UCLA and USC aside, he's not real concerned with location. "I'm ok with going anywhere," said Wilkes. "I'm just looking for a good relationship with my coach and team."

Wilkes said that playing time is not an issue. "It's more about the fit," said Wilkes. "But I would like to play at the highest level possible."

Wilkes isn't in a hurry to choose a school. "I may take some trips early," said Wilkes. "But I won't decide anytime soon."

Wilkes told us that his GPA is around 3.5.
