Ashanti Cook Decides!

Ashanti Cook, a guard out of the vaunted Los Angeles (CA) Westchester program, made a decision on Tuesday. Cook will play his college basketball in the Mountain West Conference.

Lobos Get No. 2 On Board

Fran Fraschilla and his New Mexico Lobos have their second commitment of the year. Ashanti Cook, a 6-2 guard capable of playing a combo role if need be, committed to the Lobos.

Cook received recruiting attention from Minnesota, Oregon and Kansas State.

Last year, he averaged over 10 points a game for a loaded Westchester squad, which featured himself, Brandon Heath, Chad Bell and Hassan Adams. Bell is a freshman at New Mexico this year, according to reports, is well ahead of the usual freshman learning curve, and is rapidly improving. In turn, it looks like there is a solid connection between the Lobos and Westchester and given the talent in that program, connections are a good thing.

Fraschilla now has two commitments. In addition to Cook, the Lobos own a commitment from power forward David Chiotti, a member of the Bay Area Ballers AAU program.
