Mullis attended the 49ers game against Davidson on Thursday night and let it be known at that time that he was ready to commit.
"It came down to him feeling comfortable with the coaching staff," Ridge said. "He just felt comfortable with the coaches."
Last month, Mullis visited Clemson unofficially and had been hearing from a host of schools, but Charlotte was the most persistent and pursued him the hardest.
This year, Mullis is averaging 17 points and 9 rebounds after transferring back into the program after a two-year stint at Forsyth Country Day. This is Mullis' final season of public school basketball. He'll likely have to transfer next season to another school.
Ridge thinks Mullis has a bright future. "He gets better everyday. He's tenacious and athletic."
