Patriots Land First Recruit

Jim Larranaga bagged his first commitment of the year. The Patriots initial foray into the Class of 2002 comes in the form of a power forward.

Lewis To Mason

On Thursday, Maine Central power forward Jai Lewis ended his recruitment. The 6-6, 225 pounder opted to cancel a remaining visit and commit to George Mason.

"He felt real comfortable with the school," Baltimore Select AAU coach Paul Bowden said. "He really liked the area. It was agonizing for him to make such a tough decision."

Previously, Lewis visited the Patriots, Drexel and Robert Morris. Virginia Commonwealth had wrangled his final visit date, but that's not going to happen now.

Lewis, a native of Aberdeen, Md., is at Maine Central this year working on achieving a qualifying test score.

In other Baltimore Select news, point guard Terrance Whiters will visit Loyola-Chicago this weekend. Marshall and Youngstown State are also likely to get future visits. Whiters is playing this season at Laurinburg Prep.
