2005 Focus: Brayden Bell

Brayden Bell, a 6-10 junior center from Utah, is getting interest at the high major level from schools across the country...

Brayden Bell, 6-10 JR C Salt Lake City (Utah) Brighton, is a sweet-shooting big man who figures to play at the high major level. Bell has a big body and he's toned up a bit since we saw him in the summer. He figures to get stronger as he gets older and his inside game will no doubt improve. His outside shot, though, is already quite a weapon. Bell has a very nice stroke out to the three-point line.

We spoke with Bell recently at the Smith's Ragu Classic and asked about the schools that have been showing interest in him.

"Kansas, Utah, Louisville, Arizona, Oregon, Pepperdine, Utah State, BYU and Gonzaga," said Bell. "Gonzaga, BYU, Utah and Utah State have been out to practice."

Bell listed some of the factors he'll be considering when making his choice. "The coaching will be important. It's not real important that it's close to home, but it'd be nice to stay somewhat close. Also, how the team has done in the past. Playing time is kind of important -- I'd like to play."

We asked Bell if he had a dream school growing up. "Duke and North Carolina," said Bell.

Bell doesn't sound like he'll make an early decision. "I want to take it all in and figure it out when I have all the information," said Bell.

When we asked if there were any schools that he knew he'd visit, Bell replied, "I really want to visit Louisville and Kansas, maybe Pepperdine."

Bell told us that he has a 3.5 GPA.
