City of Palms: Day One Notes

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Michael Beasley showed why he's considered one of the elite players in his class. Here's a look at a few standout underclassmen in addition to our Scout's Seat and Notes from Thursday.

2006 Checklist

Dwayne Collins, PF, Miami Senior: He's just 6-6 but he's got big old feet and if he gets taller could be a high-major projector. He had an excellent first half on the boards. He slowed in the second half but finished with 12 and 6. He's one to watch at the mid-major level.

2007 Checklist

Edwin Rios, SG, Miami Senior: He's only 6-0 but he's got a big ticker. He made 5 3s, all of which seemed to be of the clutch variety. He finished with 20 points.

2008 Checklist

Michael Beasley, SF/PF, IMG: He saved the day for his team. Just when it appeared that IMG was going to get blown out early in the second half, Beasley's jumpers bailed them out. He played with a bandage around his non-shooting hand and it affected him little. He's a reclassified 8th grader and sometimes you forget how young he is. He had 19 points and 7 rebounds.
