IU Lands No. 3
Daryl Pegram, a fixture at the forward position for the L.A. Rockfish, is a Hoosier.
"He's an intriguing kid," Worcester Academy head coach Mo Cassara said. "He's going to be a three man. He just lacks a little physical strength right now but he has a passion for the game. A year ago at this time I would have never said he had a chance to go to a high-major school."
Princeton and Penn were among the serious suitors for the academically oriented 6-7 small forward. Siena had an official set up that won't happen and Nevada, Rhode Island and Fordham were also on him.
"Indiana's been recruiting him all along," Cassara said. "They saw him out in Vegas with the Rockfish."
Last year, Pegram averaged 13 points and 6 rebounds. "He's going to work. He's a low-maintenance kid."
In other Worcester Academy news, power forward Jason Chappell will visit Wisconsin this weekend. He'll then trip to South Carolina the following weekend. His brother John is a freshman at South Carolina. Chappell visited Rhode Island and College of Charleston is pushing for a trip.
Dave Odom has a tremendous "in" with Chappell whose father is one of the all-time greats at Wake Forest. Odom took a commitment from John Chappell when the coach was at Wake Forest and then Chappell followed him to South Carolina.
