Good Battle For His Services
Last weekend, Garland (TX) High center/power forward Ike Diogu made an official visit to UConn and it went extremely well. "It's kind of hard to explain," Diogu said. "From the moment I stepped onto campus I felt extremely comfortable with the whole environment in Connecticut. It was kind of scary actually.
"It was a real nice environment for me. Coach Calhoun and coach Leitao were just real with me and I liked that."
In turn, UConn has now joined an exclusive group of three schools that have the best shot at him. "I'd say right now my front runners are Arizona State, UConn and Illinois." Diogu pointed out that was the order of his list but was quick to add that each of them has a realistic shot at landing him. "I still have a Top Five but I'd have to say those schools have moved up and jumped over the other schools." The "other" schools are Georgetown and Seton Hall.
Diogu plans on reaching a decision on Monday but there will be no press conference. "Nah, I won't have a press conference. It doesn't get that big over here," Diogu said chuckling. "When I come in [to school] in the morning I'll tell my coach and we'll just start calling the universities."
"Right now, I'm just talking with my parents and anything can happen."
