More Jump In On Rondo

Steve Smith has seen some pretty talented point guards roll through his vaunted Oak Hill program. Smith says Rondo is right up there with the best he's ever had.

Rajon Rondo, the 6-1 point guard at Oak Hill Academy not only is the top unsigned point man in America; he's quickly become one of coach Steve Smith's favorites all-time at the Virginia powerhouse.

"It's on a string when he handles it," Smith said. "That's freak show. The only time he turns it over is on lobs or something. It doesn't go anywhere."

While the ball doesn't go anywhere, Rondo is most definitely going places, most recently Illinois where he took an unofficial visit.

"It was OK, it went good," Rondo said. "The fans seemed really good. I liked the facility they played in. I like the style offense they play."

Illinois is just one of a few schools that Rondo will consider. Georgia was also in the mix but the Dawgs took a pair of guards on Friday from the junior class.

Maryland called recently about Rondo. Louisville has always been mentioned in the background too but until recently hadn't done much with Rondo. Neither had Kentucky, until last week.

Careful not to close down his list at this point, Rondo wants to listen to all parties.

"Louisville turned up the heat last weekend and Kentucky has spoken to us several times in the last week," Smith said. The coach said that now Louisville and Kentucky are asking for him to come visit.

Like we said, he's the hottest recruit in the country right now.
